Emma Cambourne

I am a highly experienced, skilled and knowledgeable teacher of children and young people (CYP) with a range of neurodiverse conditions, in particular autism and complex speech and language needs (SLCN.)

For more than 20 years, I have worked across a range of educational provisions, including mainstream settings, special schools, a Communication Base and an Autism Base.  My experience ranges from the Early Years to Key Stage 4.  I have worked as an Advisory Teacher for the last 15 years, across Somerset schools.  Within this role I have worked closely with SENCos, Head teachers, staff, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for autistic CYP and those with complex SLCN.

I am committed to ensuring that all CYP with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) have their needs accurately identified, and that they receive high quality provision which enables them to achieve their full potential.

My expertise includes:

  • Identifying and reducing barriers to learning.
  • Working collaboratively to identify achievable solutions.
  • Developing individualised outcomes.
  • Facilitating effective and supportive collaboration between professionals, parents and carers.
