Understanding Transitions

Course description

Many neurodiverse CYP find change and uncertainty particularly challenging and you may see an increase in anxiety connected to periods of 'transition'.

A CYP can undertake many transitions in a single day; some of these are small, such as moving between topics. Some are large, such as moving to a new setting. With planning and small adjustments, transitions can be navigated more positively and comfortably.

This course supports you:

  • To support parents and professionals working with CYP to understand what ‘transitions’ are and how to support CYP who are finding transitions challenging.
  • To develop strategies that can promote predictability and security, to reduce anxiety.
