Talkboost

Course description

Early Talkboost


For practitioners working with pupils aged between 3 – 4.5 years who have a language delay and need support to develop their speech, language and communication skills. The programme aims to accelerate children’s progress in language and communication by an average of 6 months after 9 weeks. Early Talk Boost is a targeted and evidenced based intervention programme. 


Aims: 

  • Develop your awareness of speech, language and communication and typical language development in the Early Years. 
  • Understand how to identify appropriate children for the intervention. 
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to deliver the intervention successfully. 
  • Measure pupil progress (using pre and post intervention data.) 
  • Discuss partnership with parents. 


Key Stage 1


For classroom teachers and teaching assistants working with pupils aged between 4–7-years old who need support with their expressive and receptive language, including children in Reception classes. Talk Boost KS1 is a targeted and evidenced based intervention programme that boosts childrens’ progress in language and communication by an average of 9 – 18 months after a ten-week intervention. 


Aims

  • Develop awareness of speech, language and communication and typical language development in KS1. 
  • Understand how to identify appropriate children for the intervention. Develop the skills and knowledge to deliver the intervention successfully. 
  • Measure pupil progress (using pre and post intervention data.)
  • Discuss partnership with parents. 


Key Stage 2

 

For classroom teachers and teaching assistants working with pupils aged between 7 – 10 years old with delayed language and communication skills. Talk Boost KS2 is a targeted and evidenced based intervention which aims to boost pupils’ language and communication by an average of 9 - 18 months after an eight - week intervention. 


Aims

  • Develop your awareness of speech, language and communication and typical language development in KS2. 
  • Understand how to identify appropriate children for the intervention. · Develop the skills and knowledge to deliver the intervention successfully. 
  • Measure pupil progress (using pre and post intervention data.) 
  • Discuss partnership with parents. 


120 pp (minimum of 5 people) 

Setting (up to 12 participants) £500 

Please note – travel may be at an additional cost
